What does Forcefield do?
The FORCEFIELD announcement describes a brief period of protection, and the gameplay image shows a bubble around a player. The useful distinction is between protecting a player and clearing the arena: those are different jobs.
Choose this word with a next move in mind. Protection is more useful when it gives you time to identify a route than when it encourages you to stay in a position that will remain dangerous afterward.
How to use the protection window
- Enter FORCEFIELD on your Writer turn.
- Look for the protective effect around your character.
- Use the opportunity to check nearby threats and choose your next safe direction.
- Keep a route available for when the visible protection disappears.
Do not use a previous round’s clock reading as the duration. The screenshot shows the match interface, not a measured Forcefield timer.
Forcefield or Fly?
Forcefield is a protection choice. Fly is a movement choice that gives living players wings. If your main problem is reaching a different platform, movement may be more useful than staying in place with temporary protection.
If the problem is the last word that changed the arena, an unlocked /undo serves a different purpose: reversing the latest word.
What to watch after the bubble appears
Keep reading new word announcements. A protective effect around your player does not tell you that the landing area, nearby shelter or route across the map is unchanged.
Exact interactions with every disaster have not been tested here. Treat the bubble as a temporary opportunity to plan, rather than a reason to deliberately step into a hazard.
