What does the Fly word do?
FLY changes how players move by giving them wings. It is an ordinary word entered during a Writer turn, rather than a flying vehicle you need to find and board. The effect applies to the living players, so opponents can use the same movement opportunity.
Think of Fly as a way to change position. It is especially relevant when your current platform has become dangerous and a better landing point is visible.
How to flap and glide
- Enter FLY when you are selected as Writer, or watch for the effect after another player enters it.
- Use your jump control: tap to flap, or hold to glide.
- Aim for a platform with room to land and a route away from its edge.
- Check the landing area again as you approach; another word may have changed it.
The useful control is the jump action, so use the jump input on your device rather than looking for a separate flight command.
When is Fly a useful choice?
A good reason to choose Fly is a specific destination: a raised platform, a clearer section of the island, or a way around a blocked approach. A vague plan to stay airborne forever leaves you without a fallback.
Against a ground-level threat, look for separation from the ground. Against a falling hazard such as Meteor, also watch what is above the route. Height alone does not solve every disaster.
Fly or Forcefield?
Choose Fly when changing location is your priority. Forcefield is a temporary protection effect instead. Neither choice removes the other words already affecting the island.
Frequently asked questions
Does Fly only help the Writer?
No. The described effect gives wings to the living players, including opponents.
How long does Fly last?
A reliable fixed duration has not been established. Keep a landing route available instead of planning around unlimited flight.
Is Fly the same as Plane?
No. Fly gives players wings; it is a different input from a vehicle word such as Plane.
