Survive Your Ideas Beginner Guide
Your first goal is simple: understand what has appeared before adding something else to the map. Survive Your Ideas lets a randomly selected Writer turn a word into an effect, while everyone tries to become the last player alive.

Reported progression: Cash and Index rewards
What does the Writer do?
The Writer is the player chosen to enter a word. The official description says the selection is random. Published guides add that players each receive a turn before the writing cycle repeats. The latter is a guide-reported detail rather than a rule established by the readable official description. Guides also report a paid Write Next option, and a video showed a queue position (“In line #2”), so the order is not always a simple rotation.
When it is your turn the game shows “Your turn to write!”, an input box and a Send button.
You can prepare by learning a small number of effects instead of assuming every input is interchangeable. The words list separates known official examples from additional reported effects.
What if a word is blocked?
Not every input goes through. In one video the typed word was hidden as ##### with the message “Blocked by the filter. Rolling a new writer!”, and a new Writer was picked. Which words are blocked is not known, and no block list is published here.
What happens after a word is entered?
The effect joins the round, and words stack. A new event does not mean the previous danger has disappeared. Guides describe some effects as temporary and others, including Meteor and Zombies, as remaining through the match.
When choosing a response, consider both the latest word and the older hazards. High ground may be relevant to water, while a blast prompts a different shelter decision. See Disasters for that distinction; there is no universal safe spot established by this research.
Late in a match, videos show a shrinking border and, with two players left, a “Duel! Write your word!” prompt — see Late in the match.
How do you earn Cash?
Published guides describe Cash as the progression currency, with rewards linked to how long you survive. They also describe one-time Cash rewards when a recognized word unlocks an Index entry.
Cash also pays for normal Spins in the Items menu (10,000 Cash per Spin in one video) — see Items.
This gives you two reported progression routes: longer survival and new recognized entries. There is no verified Cash-per-minute figure here, so a precise earnings promise or an “infinite money” route would not be justified.
What are Items?
Items are equipment you spin for in the lobby Items menu; the menu says your best 5 go with you into the match. Spins, Lucky spins, rarity odds and the Loadout are covered in Items.
What is the Index for?
The Index records recognized words according to the guides. Learning an entry can help you connect the name you type with the effect it creates, as well as providing the reported one-time reward. It should not be confused with an unlimited reward for repeatedly entering the same word.
When should you use Meta Words?
Meta Words are special unlocks, not ordinary words that are automatically available. They use a leading slash and are reported as purchasable through the lobby menu. Learn their purpose before spending Cash or Robux, especially because published premium prices disagree. Meta effects and unlocks are covered separately.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Choosing by name alone. A dramatic word can create a threat you are not positioned to survive.
- Assuming a word has ended. Some effects are reported as persistent.
- Treating an assumed alias as a confirmed entry. Guides describe near matches and named NPC responses to unknown text.
- Expecting an ordinary word to behave like a slash Meta. The input and unlock requirement differ.
- Trusting an untested code list. Codes such as THANKYOU are reported by third-party sites; check the Codes page for its status.
Is there a free Grapple Hook?
A gameplay video shows a Free Grapple Hook pedestal in the lobby with Like and Join group prompts. We have not claimed it ourselves, so the exact steps and whether it is kept permanently are not confirmed. It is not a promo code.
For your next step, use Best Words to connect a choice to a specific goal rather than memorizing a supposed unbeatable combo.
